Kim Kardashian addressed her response to being called out for not speaking quickly enough about Balenciaga’s ‘disturbing’ ad campaign, which featured a child holding a teddy bear dressed in a BDSM outfit.

Despite speaking out against the controversial images, the reality star, 42, said she still came under fire while appearing on Monday’s episode of the Angie Martinez IRL Podcast.

Initially, the businesswoman said she didn’t know what was going on because she ‘is not in this campaign’ and felt that she had ‘completely denounced’ child pornography.

Still, she said “people got mad” because she didn’t call for the brand to be cancelled, or post “fuck you, Balenciaga.”

‘There is absolutely no place or a gram to play anything with children like any sexualisation of children’, the founder of SKIMS made clear. ‘There isn’t an ounce of it that should be in our brains, in our society. I understood.’

She continued: ‘I couldn’t have been clearer, this is awful, this is disturbing.’

Despite telling her more than 337 million Instagram followers that the controversial ad “brought joy” to her last month, Kim said “no matter what” she says “there will be people who are going to have problems” with whatever she says.

The mother of four also spoke about the exhausting strain of being dragged into a ‘narrative’ that has nothing to do with her.

Despite her best efforts, she said she knows she can count on her family and talk about “life” and what makes them “happy.”

“The closer we are, the more we can tune everything out,” she explained. ‘We have these deep conversations about what’s going on in the world.’

Finally, she says, ‘You always have to live your authentic life and not worry about all these opinions.’

Earlier in the interview, Kardashian admitted that co-parenting with ex Kanye West has been “really difficult.”

‘I had the best dad, the best memories and the best experience and that’s all I want for my kids. As long as they can have that, that’s what I would want for them, you know,’ she said.

The star added, ‘So if they don’t know the things that are being said or what’s going on in the world, why would I bring that energy to them? You know, that’s really heavy, adult heavy. That they are not ready to deal with.

Kim spoke about how she protected her ex-spouse to protect her children.

“I will protect you to the end of the earth as long as I can,” she said.

Kim has really done everything she can to keep her kids away from the drama and even calls her school teachers ‘best friends’ who keep her in the loop on what the kids are talking about.

She revealed: ‘None of the [other] kids have said anything to my kids, when things are going bad i protect things even tvs and the content that is playing. That is [a fulltime job]🇧🇷

She was sincere in admitting: ‘[It’s] it’s worth it because of course I want to disassociate myself into specific thoughts and things being said because it’s not me but at the same time in my house I might be going through something but if we’re going to school and they want to hear the music from your father, no matter what’s going on in the world, i gotta have that smile on my face and play your song and sing along and act like nothing’s wrong.

‘As soon as I leave them, I can cry a lot.’

She later got emotional again when she said her children would thank her years later for not publicly criticizing their father.

Last month, Kim and Kanye finally settled their divorce after an ugly public battle that has lasted nearly two years since they split.

The pair have now reached an agreement over custody of their four children, paternity plans and splitting their multi-million dollar real estate portfolio.

Kardashian will receive $200,000 in child support monthly, TMZ reported on Nov. 29 after reviewing court documents. West, 45, and Kardashian will share joint custody and have “equal access” to their four children.

Insiders told TMZ that Kardashian will have custody of the children most of the time.

Under the terms of the agreement, West will be responsible for 50% of the four children’s education and security expenses.

West and Kardashian agreed to attend mediation if they had a parental disagreement, according to the agency. If someone fails to attend the session, the parent present will make the decision on the matter at hand.

Kim married Kanye in Florence, Italy in 2014 and has four children with him. She finally filed for an end of marriage in February 2021.
