The Oregon Ducks entered college football’s first recruiting day with nearly two dozen players committed to join the 2023 recruiting class.
On Wednesday morning, the Ducks added their 24th commitment to the class, turning over four-star quarterback Austin Novosad, who had committed to Baylor. The addition of Novosad, who hails from Dripping Springs, Texas, comes just two days after quarterback Dante Moore left the Ducks for UCLA.
But that was just the beginning of a busy day for the Ducks, who then secured commitments from two five-star prospects and two four-star recruits.
First, Oregon flipped Notre Dame safety Peyton Bowen. Bowen is ranked the #2 safety in the nation and the #14 player overall in the 247Sports composite. Then, edge rusher Matayo Uiagalelei chose the Ducks over USC and Ohio State. Uiagalelei, the younger brother of former Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, is ranked by 247Sports as the 2nd edge rusher in the nation and the 17th overall player in the country.
The Ducks then turned four-star defensive back Daylen Austin, who had been committed to LSU since May. Austin, who hails from Long Beach, Calif., is ranked 10th in the national rankings by 247Sports. In the afternoon, the Ducks added a commitment from four-star running back Jayden Limar, who left Notre Dame.
Around noon, the Ducks lost a commit but gained another. Four-star defensive back Caleb Presley moved to Washington from Oregon, but around the same time, three-star wide receiver Solomon Davis announced his commitment to the Ducks.
Wednesday’s additions gave the Ducks three five-star prospects out of a class of 31 confirmations. Oregon, which also has 15 four-star players in its class, has moved up to seventh nationally on 247Sports’ composite recruiting rankings.
As of 2pm on Wednesday, Oregon had announced 25 signings for the Class of 2023. Tune in here for live updates as the Ducks continue to add to their latest recruiting class.
