Seen in these exclusive photos obtained by DailyMail.com, the couple, whose careers have been on the line since their affair was revealed last month, were affectionate and at ease as they boarded an early morning flight from New York.

DailyMail.com was told that they plan to spend the New Year together in Georgia, and they seemed happy to have left New York City behind as they relaxed in each other’s company this morning.

ABC has yet to make a final decision on whether one or both of them will return to the lunchtime show, as they have been suspended “indefinitely” following the revelation that their well-publicized friendship and on-screen chemistry “crossed the line.”

And as the pair prepare to enter 2023 together, they can breathe a sigh of relief at putting behind them a year in which their affair left both their 12-year marriages in shambles and getting divorced.

Holmes has a home in Atlanta where the couple planned to spend Christmas. It is not known whether these plans were thwarted by the bomb cyclone that prevented thousands of flights or by the turmoil of scandals in which they are involved.

Certainly, the couple initially kept their distance shortly after the story broke with sources questioning whether the relationship could survive the onslaught of attention.

But just days before Christmas, they seemed unable to keep away as they enjoyed a low-key lunch at the Capitale Grill near Holmes’s Financial District apartment.

Robach enjoyed a salad and a glass of white wine while Holmes enjoyed a steak and a glass of red before, apparently buoyed by the wine and conversation, the lovestruck couple made the short walk back to his apartment.

The vertigo of their past liaisons, whether flirting in downtown bars or holding hands in the back of taxis, was absent as they walked side by side but not touching.

But it was a different story when they left the restaurant smiling and hugging.

Holmes and Robach have been married to their respective spouses, Marilee Fiebig and Andrew Shue, since 2010. The two couples are said to have split in August of this year after learning of the co-hosts’ romance.

At first, Robach and Holmes seemed determined to disown him – with TJ provoking disbelief when he appeared alongside Robach and made light of the scandal after their relationship became public.

Then, speaking on Friday, December 2nd, he joked that it had been “a great week” and that he wished it would “just keep going”.

Their next step was claiming they were “openly dating” and talking about “growing the relationship”.

When Holmes was first approached to comment for DailyMail.com, his knee-jerk reaction was a career-saving attempt to ‘vehemently deny’ that the relationship existed.

Sources tell DailyMail.com that while the two have come to terms with the fate of their marriages, they don’t want to “jeopardize their future with the network any more than they already have.”

ABC News President Kim Godwin began earlier this month by issuing a memo to all employees in an apparent attempt to quell office speculation and gossip about what she euphemistically referred to as the “ongoing matter involving the news anchors.” GMA 3, TJ Holmes and Amy Robach. 🇧🇷

She wrote, ‘I understand that continued coverage can distract from the incredibly important work our team does here at ABC News.’

She informed the team, ‘Amy and TJ will remain off the air until an internal review is completed and there will be an anchor rotation on GMA3 for the time being.’

And while Godwin seems to struggle to project a “business as usual” image, insiders say Holmes and Robach are both bent on saving their own careers.

Both were seen as rising stars in the ABC firmament.

Holmes joined the network in September 2014 and became a permanent anchor on World News Now within three months, as well as a correspondent for the GMA.

Robach joined the network two years earlier, joining GMA as a correspondent before becoming the show’s anchor in 2014.
